Hi David,

Yes, the Golden Grip knife arrived in one piece.  So far I have only used it for a couple of little jobs but will share my initial thoughts.

The first thing I cut was a piece of cooked chuck roast about 1" thick.  I used the ergo to cute this into bit-sized pieces that could be warmed up in the microwave.  I used the knife on a plastic cutting board.  First I noticed the Golden Grip knife was sharper than most of the knifes I have around the kitchen! :)  People always say that it's the dull knives that will cut you.  But I have found the opposite to be the case, at least for me.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe it's that I don't have as much control using knifes as I used to have.  It never fails.  Put me around a good, sharp knife (or set of knives) and I'll slice my finger or hand!

With your Golden Grip knife, however, the sharpness of the blade did NOT end up being a problem for me.  In fact, I felt it to be just the opposite.  The sharp serrated blade was helpful and allowed me to put less downward pressure on the knife while cutting. The knife felt awkward to use, however.  It's possible that part of this has to do with my wrist being fused.  Try using the Golden Grip knife with your wrist in a straight/solid position.  This might duplicate some of the initial feelings of awkwardness I had while using the knife.  I have to make a lot of adjustments with my elbow and shoulder to accommodate a wrist that no longer bends.  I do think the awkwardness might be something that would improve over time with repeated use of the knife.

I hope my thoughts and suggestions have helped.  Please let me know if there are any specific questions you have.  With the holidays approaching, I'm sure I'll be using the knife more frequently.

Sincerely,

Kathy

P.S.  The Golden Grip knife also fits nicely in with my other knives in my wood block knife holder, which sits on my counter top.

Hello!

I did receive it and have been using it the last couple of days.  I love it!  What a wonderful invention.  it gave me better control over holding onto the knife while cutting.

Thank you again for the knife.

Hi David,

I did get it and have used it once so far. So far so good, I really like it. I can see how it wouldn't work for people with certain kinds of hand deformities, but it works for me. My thumb is still in good shape, better than my fingers, so it's just what I needed!

I'll give you an update  in a week or so after I have used it more.

Hi David,
I received my knife last week.  I went right to work using it and my husband who has horrible osteoarthritis in his hands used it.  It only took a very few minutes to find out we were cutting and chopping and not feeling that nasty tug in our joints.  It really is a wonderful design and so far we have used it for the following: slicing french bread, slicing tomatoes, slicing potatoes, chopping green peppers, chopping onions, slicing ham and cooked chicken.
Congrats on developing a wonderful project.  I will be sure to touch base as we use the knife for other foods.
